How To Clean Tile Floors 02

Which cleaning product is suitable for bathroom tiles?

For effective bathroom tile cleaning, HG offers several solutions, such as HG tile cleaner shine restorer for regular maintenance. In addition, household remedies such as a mixture of water and baking soda, a paste of lemon juice and bicarbonate of soda, or a solution of warm water and mild washing-up liquid can be used, although specialist cleaning products are often more effective. Regular cleaning with a suitable product is essential to prevent soiling from soap residue. Always check the maintenance instructions from your tile manufacturer beforehand.

Solutions for cleaning bathroom tiles

Whilst professional cleaning products are often preferred, there are also some household solutions you can try for cleaning your bathroom tiles. Be aware that these methods do not always work optimally and may carry certain risks. Nevertheless, here are some suggestions:

  • Mix water and baking soda to form a paste. Apply it to the tiles, leave it to work for a short time and scrub with a soft brush or sponge. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  • Make a paste from lemon juice and bicarbonate of soda. Apply this carefully to the tiles, leave it for a few minutes and then scrub gently with a soft brush. Thorough rinsing is important.
  • Use a solution of warm water and mild washing-up liquid. Apply this to the tiles with a soft sponge, wipe gently and then rinse thoroughly with clean water.

Whilst these solutions can help, it is essential to be careful and test them first on an inconspicuous area. If you are unsure, or if you are dealing with stubborn stains, we recommend using a specialist cleaning product specifically designed for bathroom tiles.

Causes of bathroom tile soiling

There are various reasons why tiles in your bathroom can become soiled and difficult to clean properly. Here are the main factors:

  • Limescale deposits: Hard water can cause limescale to build up on tiles, which is difficult to remove with ordinary cleaning products.
  • Soap residue: When soap and shampoo are not rinsed away properly, residue can remain on the tiles and cause build-up.
  • Mould and bacteria: In damp rooms such as bathrooms, mould and bacteria can easily develop on tiles, especially in the grout.
  • Wrong cleaning product: Using an unsuitable cleaning product can mean that dirt and build-up are not removed properly and instead continue to accumulate.

To prevent these problems in the future, we recommend cleaning the tiles regularly with a suitable HG cleaning product. Choose a product specifically designed for bathroom tiles that effectively tackles limescale, soap residue and mould. In addition, it is wise to ventilate the bathroom well after use and dry the tiles to help inhibit the growth of mould and bacteria. Regular maintenance with the right products will keep your bathroom tiles looking their best and ensure they remain hygienic and attractive for years to come.
