Preventing a dirty air fryer basket and pan is also important and can be achieved by using the correct cooking temperature and time, and by cleaning the appliance regularly using mild cleaning products.
HG solutions for cleaning your air fryer
For effective cleaning of your air fryer basket and inner pan, we recommend using HG air fryer ® cleaner. This product has been specifically developed to remove stubborn deposits of baked-on grease and food residue that standard washing-up liquid or general degreasers often cannot remove. At the same time, HG air fryer ® cleaner is powerful yet gentle, meaning it will not damage the appliance.
Follow these steps carefully for the best results:
- Ensure that the basket and inner pan have cooled completely before starting the cleaning process and place both components in the sink.
- Measure approximately 50 ml of HG air fryer ® cleaner into the inner pan and use the supplied brush to spread the product evenly over both the inner pan and the basket.
- Leave the product to soak for approximately 1 hour, then rinse both the inner pan and the basket thoroughly with warm water.

Solutions for cleaning your air fryer basket and pan
There are also several household solutions that are often used to clean an air fryer basket and pan. Whilst these methods can sometimes be effective, they do not always produce consistent results and may carry certain risks:
- Soak the basket and pan in warm water with washing-up liquid for approximately 30 minutes, then scrub gently with a non-abrasive sponge.
- Use a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar to loosen stubborn dirt. Allow this to work for approximately 15 minutes before cleaning.
- Apply a mixture of water and lemon juice to stained areas, leave it to work for around 10 minutes and then rinse thoroughly.
It is important to thoroughly dry all components after cleaning to prevent the formation of rust. If these household methods are not effective enough, using a specialist cleaning product is recommended.
Causes of a dirty basket and pan in your air fryer
There are several reasons why the basket and pan of an air fryer can become heavily soiled:
- Burnt food residue: Cooking at too high a temperature or for too long can cause food to burn and stick to the basket and pan.
- Infrequent cleaning: Allowing grease and residue to build up over time makes cleaning more difficult.
- Use of unsuitable cleaning products: Harsh or abrasive cleaners can damage the non-stick coating, making future build-up worse.
To prevent these issues from developing:
- Use the correct temperature and cooking time for preparing your dishes.
- Clean the appliance regularly with warm water, mild washing-up liquid and a soft sponge or brush.
- Soak components when necessary to loosen residue before cleaning.
- If needed, soak the basket and pan in warm water with washing-up liquid to loosen stubborn food residue before cleaning.
